Accepting Help With Your Giraffeness – Part 2

You may remember that I talked about looking into medical options for my anxiety in the last part of Accepting Help With Your Giraffeness. Since then, I have been prescribed propranolol tablets which helps to treat the physical symptoms of anxiety for example increased heart rate.

Overall, it has been an interesting experience. I have realised since starting the medication that I became quite used to being anxious and over-thinking a lot of things and now I don’t as much. Therefore I have almost been learning a new way of living which has been quite daunting but the positives definitely outweigh these as since starting on the medication, I have been sleeping a lot better and less panicky. It has also made me think more about daily situations that can make me feel anxious and how to go about my day in a healthier way.

I have also been trying to help myself more in other ways. I have joined a gym (an alternative to running in the cold!). Although I wouldn’t go as far to say that I love it, I have generally felt healthier in the few weeks since I joined.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you find it helpful. As always, feel free to get in touch with any questions/feedback/comments, I always love to hear it. Stay tuned for the next instalment.

Until next time
