“Feel the Rhythm! Feel the Rhyme! Get on Up, It’s Bobsleigh Time”

People may remember my post Just Keep Swimming? Or Jamaica, We Have a Bobsleigh Team from September last year where I was thinking about which attitude and action to take in regards to my uni situation. As you can tell from the title, I have made a final decision! Although I do enjoy working with people and I am interested in health, it became more and more clear to me that a role in occupational therapy wasn’t going to be the right personality fit for me and I wouldn’t be fully happy doing it.

I’m still thinking over what I would like to do instead. I have become more interested in raising awareness of mental health issues through this blog especially so I have been thinking about ways that I can use that in a job, particularly something that would allow me to use my writing skills. The obvious thing right now is something to do with marketing, fundraising or journalism which is quite a leap from what I have done before which right now feels quite daunting but seems like something that would suit me better. It has taken some time to get to this stage of having more of an idea about future options and I am thankful to have that at the moment but I am growing tired of what seems like a never-ending saga.

For the moment, there is a plan to go back to uni for a few months from September to get extra credits for a diploma in health and social care. For a while, I was focusing on the benefit of getting this qualification going forward. However, the reality of dragging out the time of being a registered Caley student even longer and going back to studying had begun to take its toll. It was a further disappointment finding out that my previous nursing credits would be unlikely to count towards making up the gap. However, having spent some time looking over some potential things I can study, I am trying to think more positively about it and starting to feel that things may not be as bad as I thought they might be.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you find it helpful. As always, feel free to get in touch with any questions/feedback/comments, I always love to hear it. Stay tuned for the next instalment.

Until next time

Kathryn
