I have finished a temporary cleaning job in East Kilbride this week. Through doing it, I have been reminded that I am not a creature of habit. Mopping and spraying the same surfaces every day can be quite draining. Three days in, I needed a nap every day after I came in from work and I felt my mood really drop. I decided that I needed to do something to get me through the last couple of days. So the next day, I tried to find some small, sometimes silly things to make the work a bit more exciting.
1) Wearing different clothes each morning
Really to avoid wearing all black all day for five days straight. I didn’t have a lot of time for shoe variety!

2) An animal count from the train
The line to East Kilbride is surprisingly abundant in nature. Some of the animals I spotted were:-
- Horses
- Sheep (alive and one who unfortunately had passed)
- A cat (walking along the line)
- Cows
- An eagle? Or maybe just a big bird
- A dog
- Squirrels
- A magpie
And a rather cool elephant at work!

3) Making the most out of the repetitive tasks
Since I spent so much time with these surfaces, I decided to give some of them names. Meet Florence, Flora and Flossy, the floor sisters and Barry the Barrier!

Some silly things, I know but in the last couple of days, I have come home with a lot more energy and not needed a nap and I have not felt as deflated so it has definitely been a learning experience.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you find it helpful. As always feel to get in touch with any feedback/questions/comments, I always love to hear it. Stay tuned for the next instalment.
Until next time
