A Giraffe Getting a Haircut

As previously hinted, I had some inspiration for a blog post whilst at the hairdressers this morning. It was one of the most eventful trips to the hairdressers I’ve ever had, I have to say! Never have I had my hair cut by a razor before! Would have asked her why as she started but didn’t want to distract her while she was doing it in case her hand slipped and goodbye hair.

Moving onto the main point of this post though. The hairdresser didn’t speak much English – she asked me what ‘size’ I wanted, which I think she meant how much did I want off. Therefore, conversation was going to be more awkward than it usually is at the hairdressers. I had a few messages to go through on my phone and often the temptation can be just to leave the hairdresser to their work and get on with your own business.

However, something made me stop to think and decide no, I was going to just focus on where I was and who I was with. And I’m glad I did. I’m thankful for not having to wear a face mask anymore and she could see me smile at different points. Although conversation was going to be difficult and I didn’t have any good topics come to mind, it felt good to be ready to listen to anything she tried to say and seem like I was interested in what she had to say and what she was doing.

This is just one example but what I hope to imply is that the small things that we do can really make a difference to someone’s day and mood. So even the smallest thing that you can think of to do, try it, you have nothing to lose and can only be a gain for someone else.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you find it helpful. As always, feel free to get in touch with any questions/feedback/comments, I always love to hear them. Stay tuned for the next instalment.

Until next time
